Hey,i would really like some help with a strange issue i'm having. The laptop is SVS1513z9e (Support for SVS1513Z9E | Sony) after a simple restart where no changed were made and no programs were added i plug my headphones in the jack and the audio is still coming from the internal speakers, like it's not recognising the jack.Any advice will be helpfull because after two days of googling i found nothing helpfull. From sony's site i confirmed that it had a realtek chip,so that would mean that realtek hd audio manager would be responsible about the jacks, but realtek hd audio manager is nowhere to be found on my computer.Laptop was shiped with windows 8 but it's 8.1 now if that makes any difference.Eager to hear from you people.

EDIT:Forgot to mention that i tried unistlaling realtek drivers then installing the latest realtek drivers from realtek's site and also the drivers from sony's site but with no success.

Are you saying you plug in the headphone but there is nothing heard in the headphone? or that you get audio from both the headphone and the internal Speakers?

No,the sound is only coming from the internal speakers. It's the same when i tried with external speakers.

OK. now we are getting to the problem. Based on what you have reported you have done it would appear to be a hardware problem with the headphone jack.

However, to make sure go to the Device Manager, uninstall the RealTek sound device and also uninstall the sound driver. Then restart Windows and Windows will install the sound and should install the generic, basic function, High Defintion Audio Codec driver. Check the headphone jack to see if it works or not. If it still does not work, the likely problem is hardware.
