Anybody thinking of switching from Andoid to W8

There seems to be a general consensu that the Windows 8 phones are very well made and easy to operate. Well, I don't have a cell phone, I don't need one and I won't get one.

But I have a nice little 32GB Nexus 7 tablet which I really enjoy. I have no complaints about operating Android and the apps are really great. I can do many things that I could not do with the PC (e.g. navigate) and it is small enough to carry in my jacket.

Maybe one day there will be a 7" Windows 7 tablet for $230 (like mine). Then I'll look at it. The acid test would be the apps.

Android is awesome. I have a Nexus 4 16 GB phone running a custom ROM (unofficial CyanogenMod port).

Funny.... most of the people here who say that Android is great also say that they are running Custom ROM's.

So, in my honest opinion they are saying ==> "The out of the box version (OTB) of Android is crap because you first have to modify it completely".

And that's THE reason I dislike Android. It clearly is NOT a good product because it won't work OTB. And I don't want to use an OS that I MUST tweak first for it to work. If I can tweak it if I want to it would be nice, but not a necessity.

Hence the reason I love Windows and Windows Phone 8. It just works OTB.

That is not at all so. I run a standard Android on a Nexus and I love it. It has worked OTB from day one and I never had to do any tweak - just rooted it. But that was my choice because I wanted to run a few programs that require root.

And from my friends on the Android forum I know that only a minority of people run custom ROMs. That is the exception, not the rule.

I am on my second android phone and they worked fine out of the box. I haven't modified my droid 2 or my galaxy s3 at all. I've been completely satisfied with my droid. My wife switched from an iphone 3gs to a galaxy s3 and she loves it. She is perfectly happy that she made the change..and she loved her iPhone.

Who wouldn't love a Samsung GSIII after than iphone? The thing's like a bloody better iphone quite honestly.

But ew, android. It's becoming something it can't be and being something it shouldn't be on a phone.

Well I am completely satisfied with android. If I had to buy a new phone this afternoon, it would be an android without question.
