Today I decided to update from Windows 8 to 8.1. After doing so, my desktop became full of files that are probably meant to be in system files somewhere. This includes files like intcdaud and intelaud. A picture of my desktop right now is attached.
Well, obviously it is a lot of folders. That is what I was talking about. The shortcuts are my own and were there before. The problem I have is where should I move the folders from the desktop? Obviously, the desktop isn't there proper place. Are they system files, and if so, where is their proper place? Again, this all happened after I finally decided to actually install the windows 8.1 update.
I will hazard a guess and say theese folders are temporary installation files that used your desktop instead of the TEMP folder.
The picture is not helpful in determining the folder names.
Create a desktop folder. Drag and drop these unwanted folders into it. Use Explorer in List View to view this desktop folder's contents. Screen capture that.
Or you can search the web for the folder names to ascertain their origins and associations. And discuss afterwards.
Ignore what was previously here about the graphics card issue. It is fixed now. I just had to reinstall the driver.
I don't know if this will be helpful, but when I first finished the update, my keyboard wasn't working. When I checked the PS/2 driver, it said something about it not working. I eventually figured it out through the power of Google, and it turned out that I had to go to regedit and change the start value of i8042prt to 1, then do a soft reset.
