So, one day I decided I wanted to do a backup using AOMEI Backupper, just for safety. It backed up, and a few days later my hard drive corrupted. So I bought a new hard drive (same size and RPM as original) and went to restore the backup.
One the recovery disk that AOMEI created booted up, I learned that AOMEI only backed up the Partitions, and not the Partition Table. So I used Partition Wizard to give my HDD a GPT partition table (the same that my computer had preinstalled) and created the partitions to restore to (AOMEI won;t create the partitions; it just restores to them), I made each partition the size and label and location as it had when I backed it up.
After restoring the partitions, and about an hour of using the windows 8 install disk for the command prompt (this guide: Qlik Tips: Fix a Windows 8 boot issue ), I got my PC to boot again.
Then, just to tidy up, I went to Restore my PC, and got the error: "There was a problem resetting your PC.", a windows quickly popped up trying to "fix" the problem, then promptly disappeared after doing nothing.
After searching (both through the internet and my pc) I found that my computer had my recovery partitions ID-ed improperly (both were labeled as "Healthy: Primary), so I set the id of the partitions to DE94BBA4-06D1-4D40-A16A-BFD50179D6AC, which is the correct GUID for a recovery partition and it's companion Recovery Image partition.
However, that didn't solve my problem.
SO I opened the command prompt and used the command: reagentc /info to check my recovery status and got this output:
It looks like a positive output.
I really cannot figure out what went wrong, so any help is appreciated.
