after passing on vista and w7 upgrades over the years, i decided to finally take the leap, opting for w8p/64 with my new machine purchase, and once and for all retiring my faithful xp os which had served me well since it was first released (well not entirely true, i still use xp for a couple of very old legacy programs that i can't live without, using virtualbox from within w8).

anyway i was fortunate to discover this great forum prior to my move to w8, and it has made the transition very smooth, painless and enjoyable - from the installation process to learning the w8 ropes, i have continued to reference this forum for guidance and instruction, and it has never come close to letting me down. so a big thanks to the admins, the expert contributors and forum members for creating such a valuable resource, very well done gents!

yes they are and, you know what, i'm thinking w8 is pretty great as well... probably not the os to end all os's, but i'm really liking it a lot, a heck of a lot more than xp. in fact when i first installed it i was sure that i wouldn't be able to live without the start menu so i purchased stadock's nice add-on, but in the last few days i have i've been using w8 without the stardock menu and am really getting the hang of it, with a bit of tweaking it's going to rock...

Well come on in...

Howdy pardner.

I'm really happy that this great Forum even exists.

It sure beats the ipad Forum. Smile

Welcome to EightForums, ChasCS. It's good to have you aboard. :)

Eh great, I've only been enjoying the fine forum for a short time, but finding it a marvelous learning centre for Windows resources.
I've been finding too, many of the members here are very friendly and a helpful bunch.
Really getting to appreciate the new Windows 8 with all your help.

Thanks

Chas
