    Best (Paid) Anti-Virus Program?

I need to get a good anti-virus program for my new Windows 8 machine. I am currently using AVG free but I am willing to purchase something else if it's better.

Can anyone recommend a good anti-virus program for Windows 8?

    Thanks!

What's wrong with the built-in Windows Defender (which is basically MSE)?

Paid anti-virus software tends to cause more problems than they help, as well as taking up gobs of resources. It's not really necessary to go overblown on security suite apps anyways.

Whatever you buy, I would suggest you trial it first.
I have reverted to built in security and have Hitman Pro as a stand alone scanner.

I don't know about other people but Norton Internet Security 2013 is working fine on my system and hardly takes up any resources

Wow I never even considered using Windows Defender. Do you recommend I just uninstall AVG free and enable (if it's not already enabled) Windows Defender?

I will NEVER install a product by Norton again. :P Too many times have I seen Norton products as part of new computer bloatware.

I would use Windows Defender over any free anti-virus (especially AVG). It doesn't expire. It's non-intrusive, and it just works. It doesn't have all the bells and whistles of the advanced anti-virus/anti-malware apps, but then it doesn't suck up all your resources either, and it doesn't turn your high end PC into a slug.

I've been happily using Microsoft Security Essentials, which happens to be named Windows Defender now on Windows 8 for a few years and it's been solid. 0 problems.

Security Essentials, has never caused a BSOD as far as I know. I am getting many help requests for help with BSODs, now, caused by other anti virus.

The best paid antivirus I've found is Windows Defender, which is currently $15 or $40 depending on which version you buy and is preloaded on all new Windows 8 computers.
