If i don't own an Xbox, why do i need Xbox music on my pc?

Hello everyone! New Windows 8.1 user here.

When i click on a audio file, it automatically opens it with Xbox music. In the past, i have checked open with, and listed windows media player, but somehow it eventually opens up my choices in Xbox music. I think it's a pain in the ass! I don't own a Xbox, nor ever plan on it. I'm not a gamer.
Yet,,in the uninstall feature of control panel, i see no options for uninstall XBox.

Do you have a opinion?( and..i will NEVER purchase music online, so don't mention the convenience of buying new music or movies online.

    Thank you

I suppose you are using .MP3 files mostly, somewhere along the line somebody have changed default program for opening them. Find a music file of same type, right click it's properties and you'll be able to change default program to open them with.

Hi, I recently migrated to Windows 8. My music collection stumbled along the way and I had to re-fetch artwork for a few albums in WMP. I also set it up in iTunes. My default app for MP3s is WMP. As you can see below, artwork only appears when in the folder view (which somewhat defeats the...

So I created a playlist in xbox music and now I want to delete it. When I right click it, it gives me the option to delete it and nothing happens. I've forced closed the app by dragging the top. I've deleted every song in there and went to delete it and didn't work. How can I delete it?

I'm having a hell of a time with this app. I had a zune pass for ages (just canceled) and still use the zune software, but it's not very touch-friendly. I'm using a Samsung Series 7 Slate, so touch-friendly is very important. I don't want to have to use the stylus all the time. The Music app is...

So I searched around for a bit and found a few discussions about the Music app crashing, but none appear to be the problem I'm having. I can open the app and do most things in it. Search, navigate around, I can even play music most of the time except for one notable exception. When you click on...
