Hello. I recently upgraded my Inspiron 17R laptop, that is around 1 year old, from Windows 7 to Windows 8. At first, everything worked, I was able to go through every app have them work, but then Action Center told me that I needed to select a program to set up my firewall and antivirus protection. I selected McAfee for each, having a valid subscription. My apps didn't work then, and I thought it was McAfee. I went through McAfee and turned the firewall off, but they app still didn't work. I then uninstalled it in hoping that it would be fixed, but it didn't. I don't know if this affects it, but I switched email accounts for the profile on my computer. Are there any known programs that I may have that prevent the apps from accessing the internet or anything simple I can do to fix the problem?
(I am unable to access Mail, Calender, People, Messaging, Store, Maps, Skydrive, and Games. I can't connect to my xbox live account either through the Minesweeper app, even though i can connect through google chrome. The apps either open and stay at a white screen or load indefinetly.)
