    FYI, I've got Ubuntu 18.04 as an additional OS on my laptop. The disk shows no errors there. Problem must be with the windows OS. And when I first boot in Ubuntu, connect the HDD in there, restart and boot back windows 8.1; all is well. I'm pretty confused right now. NF

    Sorry to bring out the bad news. But that method didn't work either. Same error appeared and it caused the windows to crash instead. Have no idea what to do. Thanks for the kind assistance however. Cheers! NF

    Hello, I recently upgraded my mechanical HDD to a SSD and have been using the HDD as an external storage device in an enclosure. Suddenly a BSOD comes up whenever I plug it in to my laptop with an error message saying "PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA (Ntfs.sys)". And then it goes on restarting...
