Hello,
I recently upgraded my mechanical HDD to a SSD and have been using the HDD as an external storage device in an enclosure. Suddenly a BSOD comes up whenever I plug it in to my laptop with an error message saying "PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA (Ntfs.sys)". And then it goes on restarting itself on and on until I remove the USB drive. I tried connecting it to my PC and the same error comes up again and again. However when I plug it in to the USB port of the TV set it works just fine. I tried setting memory page file settings of my laptop but it doesn't matter anyway. Tried reinstalling USB drivers as well. Can anyone please help?

Currently running on;
  • Windows 8.1
  • Core i3-2350
  • 8GB RAM
  • 250 GB SAMSUNG 860 Evo SSD
  • External HDD-Seagate Momentus 5400.6
Thanks in advance!

1. Run Driver Verifier Manager through type "verifier" in search on the right side
2. Select "Create standard settings"
3. Select "Select driver names from a list"
4. Tick all 3rd party drivers and 4 Microsoft drivers (ntoskrnl.exe, ntfs.sys, classpnp.sys and ci.dll)
5. Accept changes and reboot computer

Sorry to bring out the bad news. But that method didn't work either. Same error appeared and it caused the windows to crash instead. Have no idea what to do. Thanks for the kind assistance however. Cheers!
