It wasn't overkill, I told in my post that my trackpad stopped working too which means I couldn't select the on-screen keyboard, I didn't have an USB mouse at the moment. Did you even read my post completely?

Nevermind, I got it working by pressing Alt + F10 on startup and then refreshing the pc.
