    Ok, now the stuff has hit the fan. Excel opens and then closes with "a problem has caused the program to stop working". I re-installed Office 2013 but it still happens. Is Win8.1 crashing?

    After 8.1 update, no change. Brink; Since I still have the problem and the 8.1 installation didn't change it, there is no point to doing a reset is there? So a complete reinstallation of Windows is my last option? Should I contact Microsoft or Lenovo first? Bob

    When left unattended for 10 minutes or when I select Sleep from the Power option. I am assuming that is sleep. Thanks for trying though!

    I already had the Screen Saver Enable Password unchecked. The User Accounts screen has one user and was listed as Administrator. There is no box to check or uncheck as shown in Step 3 and discussed in Step 5. Now what?

    I keep saying, I don't know how to get to step 6 when I don't know how to get those screens. In step 2/3 I always get the different screen that I posted. Only that screen (wide rather than tall).

    where? Where do I find Advanced Power Settings? I have only found Control Panel/Power Options/Settings which seems to be the place but doesn't actually work. I think it is same place because the words you quoted are there. I have that button selected. Still have to use my password.

    In Control Panel, Power Options, you can choose to not require a password in the sleep mode. Despite setting it this way, it keeps requiring a password. Bug?
