Disk Cleanup Stuck With Windows Update Cleanup With SSD

Well, as the title suggests, I'm having an issue with Disk Cleanup with a new SSD I recently purchased. In all my years with HDDs I never had this problem. I've been running Windows 8.1 with an HDD for over a year now with no such problem so this is quite new & odd to me. The Windows Update Cleanup feature in Disk Cleanup always worked for me with a HDD. If there was ever a time it didn't work, I certainly can't recall. I'm assuming it's something in the way SSDs are built vs. standard HDDs. Though again, this is my first SSD so, I rally don't have others to compare it to.

So, essentially when Disk Cleanup gets to the Windows Update Cleanup part, it hangs:

    I tried:

    sfc /scannow & I tried:

    Dism
    /Online /Cleanup-Image /CheckHealth

    Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /ScanHealth

    Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

But, when I get to to Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /ScanHealth it hangs:

It's been a while since I had to do any major PC repairs & this is my first personal run in with this particular issue & maybe I'm just out of touch. Maybe missed a few steps? Can somebody help me out? This is the SSD that I have if that helps Kingston High Performance SATA Solid-State Drives (SSD) for Laptops, Desktops and Servers in 60GB, 120GB, 180GB, 240GB and 480GB capacities.

How long did you wait? Give it lots of time, like a couple hours if necessary, see if it eventually completes.

I just did Disk cleanup - System Cleanup in my new Dell venue 8 pro tab with 64gb ssd & it took 6hours for just the cleanup to finish.

The dism scanhealth finishes in few minutes, the rest two takes time in all of my systems.

I gave it 30+ minutes and it never moved past that. This is actually the second time this happened with this SSD but, I didn't feel like bothering with it the first time. So, this is the first time I tried the sfc & DISM methods. Again, both times it's been 30+ minutes in hang. Have you had similar issues with SSD vs HDD & it just took longer with SSD?

Try this one & then the dism restore health & then sfc---

    Dism.exe /online /Cleanup-Image /StartComponentCleanup

edit--- Dism usually hangs on 20% for a long time.

Most probably somewhere near it I suppose. This is the first time system update cleanup took that much time for me. But eventually i gained 7gb from that , in a 64gb SSD.

Thanks guys. I'm gonna try these now. Guess a little patience is gonna be a requirement as I assumed an SSD would natively require less time in disk maintenance. I'll post back results.

Alrighty then guys so I ran:

    Dism.exe /online /Cleanup-Image /StartComponentCleanup

    Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /CheckHealth

    Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /ScanHealth

    Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

All of those completed. There was a hang only this time it didn't take anywhere near as long. I think it simply froze the first time.

    Then I ran :

    sfc /scannow

That finished & now I'm gonna do a restart & try running Disk Cleanup. It's 3:45 A.M. here so I'll leave it running all night if I have to. I'll post back results.
