WARNING! The NVidia 302.80 drivers CRASHES MY BOOT and REBOOTS INTO RECOVERY MODE ! The only way to boot after trying to run these drivers is to go into safe mode and reload the 301.42 drivers. I have tried the latest version too

Did the same to me TWICE I discovered it was something to do with multi monitor in the bios and having virtu installed. I have disabled multi monitor in bios and did not install virtu and the new drivers now work. Hopefully there will be a fix.

    Loqi,
Thanks! That fixed it up. I disabled the multi-monitor in the BIOS and uninstalled VirtuMVP. The NVidia Win8 driver now works fine.
I am GLAD to get rid of VirtuMVP! It never worked right and crashed pretty much every game I tried it on, even a couple of games specifically said to work (Diablo 3 in the latest build). Good riddance.

I am glad it worked for you. I personally could not see the advantage of Virtu either .. maybe as Win 8 drivers mature it might be worthwhile re-installing.

Since I can dual boot, I tried VirtuMVP on Win7 and it did the same thing, froze the game and crashed the desktop. No, VirtuMVP problems are NOT with Win8, it's just a crappy program. Don't they test the damn thing?

Thank you Aaron. To bad it appears to only be for desktops currently.

    Latest Drivers

I just downloaded and installed the latest drivers (302.82) and out of curiosity decided to run my WEI assessment again. I got a score of 1.0 due to graphics desktop performance windows aero. With the previous drivers and all others before them I was getting 8.4 for that particular subset. Am I missing something here?

Hello loquacious my WEI remains unchanged after updating to 302.82 I see you also have a newer card than mine a 680 which is supported according to the release notes.

NVIDIA's GTX 680 Intermittent VSYNC Stuttering Issue To Be Fixed In Next Driver - Legit Reviews

Unfortunately, there is a stuttering bug on the GTX 680 card (I have two in two different machines.) I have to stick to the beta 304.48 NVidia driver (which fixes the bug) as the Win8 driver release notes don't say a damn word about the bug.
