Why would I want to switch to Windows 10?

    1. You can stay where you are. Nobody will force you to go to W10

    2. They changed a lot of the UI. W10 has become more of a tablet OS than a desktop OS. The demise of the Control Panel is regrettable.

    3. The only performance number that you can retrieve from the system is boot performance (Event 100). And that takes twice as long for W10 as for W8.1. I have made a comparison in exactly the same system environment. The rest of the performance is really not measurable and you have to go by gutt feeling.

    4. I recommend you participate in the W10TP program. Then you can judge for yourself. Check in the tenforums. There you can get a lot of useful tips.

In my usage, I would have said the opposite. I feel Windows 10 is more usable with a keyboard and mouse than 8.1 (out of the box, no software like StartIsBack loaded).

It's one of the reasons I'm looking forward to Windows 10, because only one of my devices out of four computers I use is a tablet with a touch screen (Surface Pro 3).

Have you tried 10 on Surface Pro 3, there is little talk about people using it on Tablet/Touch devices so be interested if you have, for me this is where my main criticisms come

Desktop wise, even though I prefer 8, I don't have any real problems here and will be updating as soon as I can

Before I tried 10 TP I made a Macrium image of my 8.1.1 system.

I didn't like 10 so I inserted my USB image & got my 8.1.1 back.

I haven't tried Windows 10 on my Surface Pro 3, but I'd like to. It's my primary work system, so I'm hesitant to take a chance, but I should have the chance to soon after I get through a few meetings and projects.

So, in 8 they removed Start, and in 10 they are removing the Control Panel? It seems they do not learn...

They put back the Start button though so they do learn.

All they did is give you a shrunk start page with the apps in the left pane. I think the 8.1 solution was better regarding the Apps.

I don't use touch at all. Only desktop is interresting for me (gamer-PC), so most of Win8(.1) was a downer compared to winddows 7. I don't like the "new" flat look of Windows 8.1, but I like the small amount of PC-power windows 8.1 have to use compared to windows 7. I miss aero, rounded corners for my windows, a LOT of tweaking to the look of desktop and windows and controls and the start-menu.
When all that said, I am looking forward to Windows 10, I have tried it severel times, but as it still don't come in my language, I have not used it as main OS. I guess my language will first surface when windows 10 is at sale (or give-away status).
But, as other has written in this thread, it seems like every new build of Windows 10 look more like windows 7, and at the same time seems to getting slower and slower.
