    WOW!

That right there says a LOT about the Public's Perception of 8- And that HP is refusing to put up with MS - HP and other companies are out to SELL PCs.

From the fist day 8.1 was shoved at us and we were practically forced to get it - This particular Forum has been the busiest forum of all of forums on the net.

Ironically, I have found Windows 8 to be a lot more repairable than 7 - As much as I love 7. I actually Love Windows 8, but I mean 8, not 8.1

8.1 is just not the same, using it feels like I am wearing some sort of chastity belt over my face.

Windows 7 has a stripped down version of DISM

If Microsoft were to make one more Service pack for 7, and install a fully working DISM console, I think people would return to 7 in Droves. But that DISM command is what is keeping me on 8 and not 8.1

Don't take this the wrong way, but how many average users actually use the DISM console? Or even know what it is? It doesn't strike me as something that would make people flock back to 7? Again this not meant as a flame or anything like that, I'm just wondering if I missed something somewhere?

I actually prefer 8.1 over 8.0. I liked the changes they made to Metro. I'm also looking forward to what the next update may bring. That being said, I have no problem with a manufacturer offering up what the buyers want. If HP didn't think they could sell 7 they wouldn't be offering it. It's always nice to have options and a choice.

There is another thread on this here, HP brings back Windows 7 'by popular demand'...,

wonder will this cause a uproar in a few of years ,from the people who take the offer and save 150.00$,when Microsoft discontinues support of win7 .maybe they will then look for a deal on Win9 or 10 ,I know they are likely to advance that date as they do will all windows os's .
its just been announced that Microsoft will keep updates/supporting MSE for winxp for another year

You are in the wilderness already. And what do you mean by 'slow' for 7. Get a good SSD and 7 will be as fast as 8.

Something wrong with your 7 installation, if you think 8.0 is faster. Perhaps it had been around a while. Newer instalaltion always appears a bit snappier.

I am using regular HD . 8x does take a bit longer to boot up, and the file copying is slower, but they provide the moving graph file copy dialog to take your mind off it.

Well yesterday I ended up restoring my system back to Windows 7 from 8.1. For some reason there was something causing Windows 8 to run incorrectly and finally crashed while running IE in metro.
