If you like, you should be able to set .mc file types to open with notepad.exe by default in Default Programs like in the tutorial below.

Sean. Sorry to be a pain again, but I want there to be NO default program for file type .mc. I don't want the, associated with any default program. Right now, they're associated with the third party software "N1MM Logger.exe" and the icon is the N1MM icon.

Before I messed up, .mc files were not associated with any default program and they had a generic txt icon.

Did the unassociate_mc.reg file in my previous post not unassoiciate it after merging it and restarting the PC?

It did. However, the icon is still the N1MM icon.

Well, we're partly there. Check to see if the N1MM program may have an option in it's settings to no longer be associated with mc files.

Sean. It looks like N1MM is hard wired to look for .mc files. Jeff

Is N1MM listed in Default Program by chance? If so, you could use the "Choose defaults for this program" option to see if you could uncheck .mc.

    Yep.

    Jeff,

You could do a system restore using a restore point dated before this issue happened to hopefully undo it.
