    Unassociate A File Extensiom

I have third party software that uses text files that have an extension of .mc. The originally were not set to open with any program. I accidentally set it so that a program called N1MM is now set to be the default.

How do I restore the register so that .mc files are not associated with any program?

    Thanks for your help.

    Hello Jeff,

If you like, you could download and merge the .reg file for the listed .txt option in the tutorial below to restore it's default associations.

    Hope this helps,

Not sure how to do this or if this will work. I want to have the file type .mc associate with NO program, so that if I double click on it I get a "Open With..." response

To unassociate .txt file types, you could use the tutorial below instead.

In that case, here's a .reg file below that will completely unassociated .txt files. You'll need to restart the PC after merging it to completely apply it.

Hi. Sorry to be such a pain, but I don't want to unassociate all .txt files, just the ".mc" files associated with the third party software I am using.

Sorry about that. Here you go for .mc files.

Sean. Think I may have messed this up. I just realized that yesterday I ended up associating the .mc files with the third party program "N1MM Logger" and not notepad as I originally though. When I double click on the .mc files, it opens up N1MM Logger and not notepad. And, the .mc files have the N1MM Logger Icon associated with them.

    Any advice?
