    Windows 8 is corrupt?

My pc got stuck on a black screen after i restart it one time. When it finally lets me log in after turning the computer on and off manually, all of my programs were deleted, i couldn't access my computer's hard drive(?)(c:\windows) , and i couldn't access system restore (or msconfig / any of the advance system tools). Any other way to do a full system restore without any of the pre mentioned options?

Most os times a refresh fix those probs, but in the worst situation only a reset can fix such issues !

Eventually, your best bet probably is going to be to do a clean install. But, unless your are well backed up, then your first priority is to make a plan for rescuing your files. If you are well backed up, then no problem--try a refresh. I am betting you won't be able to do one. See this thread and consider the possible use of the Paragon Rescue Kit to retrieve your data.

Refresh Your PC in Win8—Attempts to solve system problems by replacing system files without affecting user data files. Such files still should be backed up. Installed programs will have to be reinstalled except those from the Windows Store. A list of uninstalled programs is provided on desktop. You personalization settings will be maintained. System settings will be set to defaults. A Windows.old folder will be created at C:. You can delete it once you have everything you want from it--Windows.old Folder - Delete in Windows 8.

Reset Your PC in Win8—Formats, removes everything, and reinstalls Win8. No settings maintained. Be well backed up.
