    If all tests are OK, then don't worry about it.

    Make sure you have a backup image of the OS and data backup of your personal files just in case (I do that even if my HDD is not making noises).

    So yeah, as it turns out, it was HW problem.
    Probably a day or two after I started the thread, the notebook woke itself up from sleep mode while still being in my bag and overheated badly before shutting down. However, although I'm guessing the temperature control should prevent any HW from damage, the disk would no longer be found by the BIOS (upon starting the pc, it buzzed ten times and then stopped). So I brought it to the retailer and they gave me a different pc right away - no problem since then, quiet as it should be. Thanks anyway
