    Hi guys
Removed all that was recommended. Most of which said it wasn't there anyway, which i thought was weird. Basically if you look at the picture above you'll see the icons next to the items are a generic symbol, same as firefox when it is opened, the icon in the taskbar is the generic symbol. I ran the dism/sfc and i will include the picture i got with it.
I can't open internet tools in ie had to go thru the control panel, but did as you said. Also disable EVER ad-on in ie and firefox. Ran spybot after re downloading it as it wouldn't open and found 13 things to get rid of. I had to restart to get rid of the last one and it is working on it now. Will post again after spybot finished and include picture of sfc...
    Thanks again

Have you considered returning the computer to factory specs & starting over clean ?
    Just a question.

I would prefer not, but if that is my only option left, than that will have to happen.
Click image for larger versionFinished spybot, nothing else found.

Now that we got it clean i am trying the refresh again. Something that MIGHT be important, When i restarted the computer after the spybot run, it asked do i want to open windows 8.1 or 7? I forgot that i installed a new SSD in the computer and installed 8 on it, but 7 is still on the old "c" drive which is now d. It is in a folder i created called "old computer".
    Is this a potential problem?

    Thanks

Refresh crapped out at 56% again. Chose to exit and start 8.1. I got the message on restart that" there was a problem refreshing your pc" " no changes were made"

    Hi hog1340,

You seem to have a large number of problems with this machine. Let's have a look at the Event Logs and see exactly whats being reported.

Download the attached file, Collect.bat > Right click the file and select Run as Administrator. This will create a Folder on the Desktop called Logs. You will need to right click the folder and select Send To > Compressed Folder. Please attach the folder to your next post.

Yes this is a problem. For the time being, disconnect or remove any additional drives. We only need to focus on the drive which contains the Operating System we are trying to fix. I can already see looking through the SFC log it has replaced files for the C: & D: drive. After you disconnect the extra drive download & run the attached file as Administrator.

Make sure you restart your computer after the scans have finished.

very slow to restart after unplugging the drives. Saved the dism to desktop and ran as administrator but nothing yet, might just be slow also. I should see something if/when it ran, right?
