Internet Explorer 10 vs other browsers

    Hello.

Since I read many related topics about font rendering in IE10, I give my personal feeling.

On my 1920*1080 DELL monitor, these are font rendering screenshots between IE10 and FF17.

See how IE10 fonts are blurry compared to FF. And this is why :

Under IE10, font smoothing is grey scaled. While FF uses a RGB scaled smoothing.

According to MS, it's voluntary. Why ? I hope it's a mistake on their part. If it were, do you think a patch would be produced in near future ?

    Thanks

    Edit : happy new year

Hi timofort, welcome to the forums, try switching to "use software rendering instead of GPU" in Internet Options under Advanced tab, I tried and attached my results, the second snip after switching to software rendering. Happy New Year to you.

    Hello brummyfan.

Have you used this solution for yourself ? Do you have a RGB scaled font smoothing on your IE10 with this trick ?

It has no effect on me. I saw this proposal on many topics on answer.microsoft.com, with other proposals such as updating graphic drivers or registry cheats, without more effects.

Thank you for trying to help me

I have shown only the difference between using Software rendering and not using, no, I haven't done any other adjustments as my laptop is of very low in spec unlike yours, I am quite please with it as it is and don't feel the need to change anything, good luck.

Got the IE 10 mud-fonts here as well. It's a built-in "feature", cannot be undone by changing any settings.
Have ditched IE, am using Firefox & Chrome, no font-rendering problems with those.

Same here. Switching to "use software rendering" made no difference for me either.
I also tried all the suggestions on Microsoft Community and MS Technet without success.
