Yeah, it definitely is. I followed those instructions above (twice). Does it confirm it when I do boot using Legacy mode, it does say UEFI: Sandisk Cruzer? But it doesn't recognize it when I boot in UEFI BIOS mode.

I'm not sure why it doesn't recognize my USB when booting.
Do you have Secure Boot DISABLED?
I tried both way with secure boot disabled and enabled, and it didn't seem to matter.

Reset the Dell BIOS back to default settings.

Also are you using the Dell reinstall Windows 8 x64 DVD to make the USB drive?

I also can't get this to make a UEFI Boot USB. I have a Windows 8 OEM .iso image. I followed the directions on how to make this bootable flash drive and while it boots it doesn't say UEFI when I select my Geek Squad 8GB Flash Drive. It just says Geek Squad 8GB. I have done this like 5 times following exactly the guide. I use Power Iso to do the extraction. I am doing this from my Toshiba Laptop with Win 8 Pro on it. I am getting a new HP Desktop in a few days and will immediately wipe it and clean install but now I don't know????? I have used known working USB Flash drives as well..It's not that. Thanks for further advise.

Need Help With Bios Setup Mode Windows 8

    Hi

I recently purchased an Asus N56VJ with Windows 8 pre-installed. At first I was trying to downgrade to Windows 7, but could not get past the windows splash screen. Anyway, while I was trying to figure out how to install windows 7, I was messing around in the bios. I decided to just stick with the Windows 8, but my bios is screwed up. I do not have any boot configuration options anymore. I tried to flash my bios, but still the bios was still the same. I did a full reset on my machine, and still no change in the bios. Is there any way to get my bios options back to the factory settings with all the options? Thanks in advance for any help that can be provided.

Identify UEFI on Win 8 Pro 64 bit DVD

New to Win 8 and this forum. Is there a way to look in (view files) a Win 8 Pro DVD and determine if it supports UEFI upon a clean installation on Win 8 Pro?

I ask because in the "Here's How" of this tut a Note in step two indicates some Win 8 DVDs may not support UEFI. At least that is my interpretation of the note.

    windows 8 64 bit

When I installed windows 8 UEFI I inserted my disk and took the following steps. When Windows 8 install came to actual install screen. I 1.) hit ctrl+f10 2.) type diskpart 3.) type list disk 4.) type select disk 0 5.) clean 6.) type convert gpt 7.) exit

After that I just installed windows and it worked fine.

Is this method OK? Or does it cause problems?

Thank you for your time and great guide.
