Working Antivirus for Win8

MSE will download and install correctly.
Thing is, with Win 8 8102, it's already installed.

No, at the moment it isn't. It's Windows Defender. If it was MSE, it would be called MSE.

Close, but sayng MSE is already installed is just going to confuse people.

Close, but sayng MSE is already installed is just going to confuse people.

What's the difference? Defender, as implemented in Win 8 8102, scans for viruses, has an active virus scanner, blocks spyware. I dunno, seems the same to me but, then, as I mentioned, I haven't used it on my machine until now but I have installed MSE on many other machines.

It looks and acts the same as far as I can see.

My intention is not to confuse but clarify.

Still, try 'em out. Just be sure you disable Defender when you do (if you can find out how):

You can do it via Services, just be careful about what you are doing in there though. :)

All you have to do to effectively disable Windows Defender is to go into it's settings, under Administrator, and un-check "Use this Program".

Hi, Mas Catoer! Welcome to the Eight Forums. :)

Thanks, Mike. Good to be here.
Yeah. I see it as good advice to take. :)
It come across my mind about sticking to its native defender :) I got problem trusting all works to one as there are numerous annoying viruses which come along with autorun.inf when some friends of mine just plug any pen-drive without taking any precaution, then some resident activities start making mess with the rest of the drive. In other view I see comodo pretty useful in screening all intrusion toward registry, system modification, and some other stuffs.

I'll take some time to find if it really suit the needs :)

I've had absolutely no success trying to get any sort of firewall installed outside of the standard Windows Firewall, massive compatibility issues across the board even when different modes are forced.

Yes. That is why I didn't make any push at all. It was almost the same thing happened when Windows 7 newly released. I think it is wise to give some time to other parties to adjust or re-engine their software until getting fond with Windows 8.
We'll see then.. :)

Auslogics Antivirus 2011 installs when under Windows 7 mode, and then runs after but causes massive system instability. I do not recommend anyone to install this.

I'm running panda cloud antivirus. Works great!

In fact I switched to panda on win7, it wasnt worse than anything else I'd used before.

Hi Bill 2 how to panda cloud works on windows 8DP here n works im try install in compatibility mode but no works too...

I think that Bill2 got Panda working with an older build, not WDP...

Avira works pretty nicely, but there were time that the avscan.exe got crashed after taking action on virus warning. In general it's OK. But I try working with MSE lately... ;)
