Windows Update Cleanup disk usage doesn't change

thanks Cliff for your reply, unfortunately the thread doesn't offer solutions that i didn't try before. However i should point out as well that when i tried to install new updates the size of the "windows update cleanup" section grew larger to approximately 500 mb and then when i tried to delete it it did leave me AGAIN with 47 mb of windows update cleanup......so i'm back to square one
