My last system i used WMC with a Hauppauge TV Tuner card, since WinTV software was not too good and unresponsive at times, Media Center worked better.
My issue now is that on my new system i have SSD as my OS drive. WMC on my other system was writing up to 2GB each day on drive, then erases it after restart or cold boot, does it again.
In this folder C:\Users\Public\Recorded TV\TempRec\TempSBF , standing for Stream Buffer Engine. This Temp file is hidden, unless you change the folder options.
Basically done for pausing, fast forwarding and reversing LiveTV. Also folder hold recordings of LiveTV.
Reason of course do not like this is constant writes it will be doing on the SSD, can't stop this function on WMC i have already asked Microsoft and researched it. Only change the size of recordings to be written, but i believe 2GB is the smallest, no matter this was not the question i have.
What i want to try to do is move this folder to my HDD, internal one, rather then make it write to the OS SSD drive.
Should be simple, but many readings show not done pretty much through WMC. This article shows a way i am not familiar with, but will it work. Change the location of the live TV buffer - Wmc Wiki
Or flash drive Using a RAM drive for the live TV buffer - Wmc Wiki
Could not understand why Microsoft did not put a settings in WMC to do this, just one to change the recording size.
Also without it will cause issues in performance is why i am not sure about changing the directory and will it work for sure. Reading about others players can do what WMC can, believe use something similar to do the same.
Any suggestions or ideas on this subject be appreciated..
