I'm posting this on behalf of a friend who has a Windows 8.1 tablet (Mediatek Cherry Mobile - a local chinese branded tablet) running Windows 8.1 with Bing.
He was doing updates the other day. When he checked for updates manually, he noticed there was an update for the Intel Camera on his tablet so he added that. After restarting to apply a few other updates his tablet was fine until he tried running the camera app. He got BSOD with an error ATTEMPTED_EXECUTE_OF_NO_EXECUTE_MEMORY. He was able to access his camera normally before the update.
So I tried to help him out. I was going to do a system restore but it was disabled on his tablet. So naturally the next step for me was to uninstall the update from the control panel but when I checked for the list of updates that were installed recently, it didn't show the driver update. Next thing I tried to do was uninstall/reinstall the camera driver. Same thing happens. I thought it might have been a problem with just the default windows camera app, so I downloaded one of the free camera apps in the Windows Store and tried running it. Same thing. So it is most likely that the update to the driver had caused it.
I'm at my wit's end. I told him we probably need to factory reset his tablet but he wants to avoid it because he's downloaded a lot of things and he doesn't want to re-download them again. Any suggestions on this?

- This is a custom made build PC that I put together. It may be low on the spec sheet but its decent enough to run a few games.
