I'm just using 8 as my main os with regular backups to another drive, till the final release. I don't want to have to install/download all my steam games again going from consumer preview to release preview though.

[FONT=Verdana, Arial, Tahoma, Calibri, Geneva, sans-serif]You don't need to download Steam games when you move from one PC to the other or change the OS, You simply delete everything except the steamapps folder and steam.exe, then you move it and when you gone restart steam.exe it will download only few files. I change my PC every 3 months and I do it all the time, my steam is on my d: drive. I just delete all the folder except steam app and steam.exe [/FONT]

Sorry my question might be dumb .... but what is the difference between consumer preview and release preview and beta ... is it worth it to install this version over my OS 7 ?

Don't install Windows 8 over Windows 7 as it is still in testing. You should dual boot it with Windows 7 and I posted a link to the tutorial in an above post. Consumer Preview is a beta and the Release Preview (previously called a Release Candidate) is a more polished off beta, but will still have a few bugs.

Now my speed is upped to 3.2 MB/s so should be complete in around 11 mins.
Probably I was too impatient at the start of the process.

Still I'm not installing until tomorrow (Fri) or (Sat).

Enjoy everyone and have a good weekend -- I'll be in London over the weekend with some UK colleagues on the Thames drinking beer and sharing their celebrations of QE II's jubilee. - Great to have these sort of celebrations even though WE don't have the monarchy.

All the doom and gloom over Banks, the Euro crisis, Iran's Nuclear potential etc -- great to have SOMETHING to cheer about.
All those in the UK this weekend --enjoy.
