I am fairly sure they are the ones. Do you have an external hard disk so you could backup them, just to be sure?

I hope you do really understand what I want to say now: I am sure those are the folders we are looking for, your backfired File History folders. I am so sure I can honestly tell you I would delete those two folders and their contents if it was my PC. If you want to do it, you must make the decision. There is a slight chance I am wrong, although I do not believe this is the case.

Anyway, the decision is yours. If you decide to delete them, read my instructions once again: Do not delete them before you have turned the File History off and rebooted!

Kari,
Thanks again for yor help..
Ive been away for a few days and im only getting round to your instructions now. I did delete those two folders and yes they were the culprits. In fact found another two as well!

I followed the instructions for the scan..didnt understand the command at boot so i opened 'command prompt' and entered the instructions there. all went well until I tried to start the scan, this message came up.

One more thing when I deleted the other folders ther were some that didnt delete.
'warning' deleting these .dll files will make computer not work (or words to that effect) would that be just copies of the original files that i shouldn't delete? not these copies?

- The SFC / SCANNOW must be run elevated (as the system built-in administrator), that is why you get that message. Instructions here: http://www.eightforums.com/tutorials/3047-sfc-scannow-command-run-windows-8-a.html

- As the file history can and will also include copies of system files, for instance DLL files, they can safely be deleted when deleting file history folders. Just be sure you delete these ONLY if they really are located in these history folders you are deleting.
