Windows 8 build 7955 in the wild, log on video surfaces

Another new build has leaked and it has the sort of stuff we have seen online in it, including new log in screen, the ribbon interface, language profile, new taskbar, metro design theme.

Neither would I, although it would be nice if there was a genuine leak. I guess that we'll probably have to wait for the Beta.

Before 7850 leaked there were lots of naysayers. The argument was every image is traceable so somebody stands to loose their job if a leak happens. Well either that is BS or that somebody managed to edit the traceability strings.

However, looking at the info supplied here Windows 8 Build list: Pre, Milestone and Beta Updated: 6.2.7980 build 7980 was compiled on April 7th 2011. This means a further 20 builds from that date are needed to take it into the build 80xx range, from which it is expected that the Beta will emerge. I think we'll be looking at mid-May at the earliest.

Am fine with mid may. In the meantime, will mount isos, create bootable ufd's (C:\windows\system32\createbootableufd.exe) and try to get hold of a 16 gig stick to make a portable windows (pwcreator.exe).

You will need a 32GB stick, as a 16GB stick is actually only 14.9 GiB. It's exactly the same situation as HDD capacity labeling.

Duh, cant afford a 32 gig stick. My 7850 install is just 9 gig, why should there be a 16 gig requirement?

This was a genuine leak, just not many features have been added by MS in such a short time span

The hash is still there just not on the desktop. The hash doesn't really mean much to my knowledge

Leaked is somewhat a misleading title for this build as it hasn't "leaked" to public. Just because someone has it to post the details of it and screenshots doesn't necessarily mean public's ever going to get their hands on it.
