Solved Windows 8.1 High DPC Latency,(annoying static sound)-Help.

Ok , so the defualt (HPET ON 32BIT) is the best in my case.I think we should be more focused on finding the cause of it and disable it if its the device ...
Thank you guys for the already great help , and I hope we will fix this!

The HPET-Bit-Version is as far I know NOT related to the Bit-Version of your OS.

Thanks a lot for the bunch of info's you posted !

I will try to go through it later tonight and hopefully find some answers.

Just to see if it would make any difference on my main-rig, I will also have a play around with the HPET.

About the missing BIOS-Options, it comes down to the MoBo-Model / MoBo-Manufacturer and BIOS-Manufacturer, if you have more or less options available. I'm even able to change almost everything I need via Asus-AI-Suite-II, but since I got my Corsair AX1200i PSU, the sensor-part of the AI-Suit is playing-up and I get Under Voltage-Warnings etc., which are for sure completely wrong. I guess it's related to the Corsair-Link-Software, which is also running in the background.

If you want to have a look at my rig / parts, then just goto: Click

Ok, let's start:

- MoBo GA-G41MT-S2PT is not compatible with Windows 8 / 8.1, not even in the Revision v2.1
-- Source: Click and Click

So first basic additional question would be, which drivers do you install yourself ?

- Which MoBo Revision do you have ?

- Get AIDA64 from here: Click
-- Use AIDA64 to give me your BIOS-Version

MoBo Rev. 1.0 + 1.1 + 2.1:

- Get the latest Realtek Audio Codecs from here: Click
-- High Definition Audio Codecs
--- For MoBo Rev. 2.0 I would need the exact VIA Audio-Adapter from AIDA64

MoBo Rev. 1.0 + 1.1 + 2.0:

- Get the latest LAN-Drivers from here: Click

MoBo Rev. 2.1:

- Get the latest LAN-Drivers from here: Click

MoBo Rev. all:

- There is no Intel G41-Chipset Driver for Windows 8/8.1, which includes your on-board graphics: Click
-- You can update the INF-Database, but that only prevents that unknown devices show-up in the Device Manager: Click
--- There is Easy Tune 6, which supports Windows 8 at least: Click
---- If you have more than 1 Mouse / Keyboard, swap them out and check if it makes a difference.
----- If you use any Manufacturer Software for your Mouse / Keyboard, then un-install them and check if it makes a difference.
------ If you have more than Keyboard / Mouse connected via USB, then un-plug everything except the Keyboard + Mouse.
------- If you use a USB-Hub, then remove it and connect your gear directly to the USB-Ports.
-------- If you use a non-powered USB-Hub, then try to connect less hardware to it, except if they have their own power-supply.
--------- If you have / know someone with an USB-Headset with an extra Sound-Card, then try to disable the on-board Audio and test via USB-Sound-Card.
---------- If you are able to organize a normal weak GPU from somewhere, then disable the on-board graphics and try-out if it get's better with the normal GPU.
----------- Hardware should be disabled via BIOS if possible, otherwise via Device-Manager.

Do some reading here:

- NDIS.sys causing serious latency problems
- Windows 8.1 - Somewhat Disappointing Audio Performance

PS: Install a driver, test and if it's not better then continue with the next one.

PPS: That's it from me for tonight. Should give you something to do for some time. If the problem persists, then I will have another look into it on Sunday (my time), as I will be not home tomorrow night.

Good Luck !

:)

Ok , so thank you for the help!
The Latency has decreased , but there is still sound cracling and its still on the level of annoying.
I installed the audio codecs and the INF-DATABASE update and here are the results:

BEFORE:
Screenshot (4).png

AFTER:
Screenshot (9).png

As for the bios , here is the screenshot from AIDA64:
Screenshot (8).png

The MOBO Revision should be 1.0 as I saw it on the Gigabyte page.
This EasyTune program looks interesting , but I am gonna leave it as it is.

Here are the answers for the questions you asked me:
MoBo Rev. all:

1.I have installed a modified driver for my Graphics card called Royal BNA , which works fine , and I highly doubt that this is the fault , because I installed it on every windows I used and it works fine and dandy (I can even play minecraft with it , it used to crash on windows 8 if I used the Microsoft driver WDDM1.1 provided driver).
2.Have update it and improvment.
3.Like I said , gonna leave it as it is , looks like a overclocking tool.
4.Have already tried that , the latency is the same.
5.Don't have it.
6.I do have a USB connected Logitech G430Gaming Headset (mainly used for skype calls) which I got for my birthday .
7.Don't use it - not plugged into the computer.
8.Like I said don't use it.
9.The G430 came with a USB sound card , but doubt that will fix it ,the audio crackles sometimes when I am having a conversation on skype. But will try to mix something together.
10.Don't have a deticated gpu.
11.Ok.

Had a look at the forums found nothing.

What I will do now:
-Install the network driver you sent
-Try to combine my speakers with the USB Sound Card that came with my USB Headset.

If nothing of that fixes it , we can wait for the Update 2 for windows 8.1 which sould come the august 12.
And if that doesn't fix it would you recommend me to install windows 7?
Anyways if you have anymore ideas , feel free to leave a comment.
And thank you.

Yes you are right, that you have Rev. 1.0.

That's really unlucky so far, but at least we got a few things out of the way.

I will have to have a look into Chrome next. The Page Fault thingy is a bit strange.

As there are no sep. USB-Drivers for your MoBo, I'm not sure yet, if there is a way to swap-out something, but I will have a look into the modded stuff, like for polling rates etc.

That there are no Windows-8/8.1 Chipset-Drivers from Intel for your MoBo is a bit bad and most likely not to by-pass.

Do you use an Admin-User-Account ?

Maybe try to run Chrome with Admin-Rights ? (right-click => run as Admin)

I must double-check the Tools-CD's/DVD's and with which PE-OS they are coming. We could boot into a PE-OS and have a look what the sound does, as that would be faster than installing Win7 and then Win8/8.1 again, if it doesn't solve the issue, because it's still not clear if it's software / driver or hardware related, but we will need a PE-OS with an I-Net-Function.

Will let you know when I found out something.

:)

Ok , so I talked to my friend today , and he said he is running 64bit windows (so do I).And all the posts I have been reading , a few people said that the popping issues only seems to show on a x64 bit windows .So I guess ,if nothing works the last thing I can do is try a 32bit version of windows , which in only gonna use 3gb of ram :( . But than again , I could use a little bit of it and use it as the VRAM for the graphics card .But thats only gonna happen , if there isn't a solution...

Another thing is I forgot to mention at the beginning of this topic..Youtube lag.The video runs smooth until the sound starts popping and the video drops like 10 fps . I am using flash player.

Maybe give the Beta a try: Click

Also give an older version like 11.6 a try, as some say they got effected around May this year: Click

A Computer Restart may be required to see any effects.

You could additionally give me a DXDIAG-Log.

Another thing you could try, would be to compare the different kind of videos and see if both formats are effected:

- HTML5 video - Amazing Roger Federer trickshot on Gillette ad shoot - YouTube
- Non-HTML5 video - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cTl3U6aSd2we

Additionally try the High Definition Audio Codecs R2.75 from here: Click

Try a different Browser as well (you may try them with an older flash player or the latest beta as well): Click

Ok , I tried beta and the 11.6 , no improvment . I doubt thats flash players fault. The audio also crackles if I use a HTML5 video.
I have already installed this codecs . I have already tried Firefox , Opera , Internet Exploder , Safari and know chrome . Same problem with all . Here is my DXDIAG-Log : DxDiag .
Windows 8.1 Update 2 was announced on August 12 by some Russian guys . If that doesn't fix it , I'm gonna install Windows 8.1 Pro 32bit and see if the audio crackles there .
P.S.I'm going to install Ubuntu on a Flashdrive and use it for like an hour , and see if the sound crackles there...

The MTDVD has Windows-PE and Damn Small Linux v4.11 (both should run without an install from the DVD) on it and it looks like Windows-7 as well, but I think Windows-7 is only an unattended installation.

Some people have your problem under Windows-7 as well.

I tried the Flash / Realtek / Browser Stuff, because of here: Click

You could try the Reg-Hack from there as well.

About the Windows-Update, witch will be not a big thing anymore: Click

If you like to be up2date about such stuff follow that thread here: Click

I'm there a member as well.

Ok, will be gone for tonight. Have to have a BBQ with my Boss.

Ok , So I had a good reading . I tried the registry tweak , and doesn't work .... Thats really bad from microsoft , that they don't try to fix that somehow (the update)... What I am going to do now is :
-Make a Ubuntu live usb (the 64bit version) and see if the audio pops there.
-If it does I will install Windows 8 pro 32bit
-And if I will have a problem there the last case will be installing the good old windows 7 pro 32bit

And if nothing of this works , its a 100% hardware problem..
Thanks for the help.

Ok installed windows 8.1 32bit . It still does crackle but defenetly less . I will now install the drivers . If it still crackle , I will have to try windows 7 and see if the crackling is gone.

Ok, thanks for the update. Fingers crossed that you are lucky.

It's not really a good sign, that it didn't work under Linux as well.

The sound still crackles on windows 7 , no diffrence in comparrison with windows 8.1 32bit (even after installing the drivers).
The registry tweak seems to really reduce the sound crackling. But the problem is definitely hardware related . I will now upgrade back to windows 8.1 x64bit and I guess I will just have to deal with it. Thanks for the help Tonschuh and everybody else.Thread marked as solved , since there is no software solution for it... :(

I'm really sorry that there was no complete fix for it. Fingers crossed that you are able to upgrade in the near future and things are getting better for you.
