Why Google Chrome is Windows 8 "native"?

I had the Chrome issue a while back.

If you install Chrome and set it as default browser from the installation, then Metro-is default.
But if you don't set it as a default browser, then it gets the normal version to open sites.

See here:

The way it's working in the Dev channel is that it opens in whichever mode was last used. There's a menu item in the Chrome tools menu that lets you switch between desktop and Windows 8 mode. Also, if you set Chrome as your default browser, it forces IE to always open in desktop mode, even when you're running Chrome in Windows 8 mode.

Alright.

Good to know that.

Thanks

There's a bug where only the Canary has the Switch to Windows 8 mode but if you're running the Canary, you cannot make it your default browser hence the feature is useless. How did you get Chrome running in "Metro"?

The Dev channel (and Beta channel, I believe) both have been updated with the "unified" profile. They both can be set as the default browser and will let you switch between desktop and Win8 mode. The Canary build is an even more experimental version than the Dev channel and is purposely prevented from being set as the default browser. Canary uses it's own profile and runs alongside whichever Chrome channel (stabel or beta or dev) you have installed.
