Sorry. i did not see the Update as it was on a new page...

Yes i did select the resolution in the Virtual machine. But when i switch to ful screen mode, it only show a part of the desktop as shown below..


No taskbar, no half the desktop n all..
Now, how to get 1600x1200 res in vm running on full-screen with the whole of the desktop? it works fine on scale mode.. but can i get it on full screen?

Sorry the first method didn't work for you Shon.

Now for this method:
If you need 1600x1200 fullscreen in VBox you also need 1600x1200 on your host.

(If your host is 1152x864 then Vbox resolution needs to be the same size also).

Maybe try to look for the recommended resolution on your monitor and use that one.

That's all there is to it.

That is what I've been trying to say Hopachi. He needs to change his W8 resolution to match his native screen resolution. Perhaps I'm not explaining it clearly.

It's clear for me.
But it seems he needs 1600x1200 on his host to get what he needs.

I wonder whether his problem is selecting his desired resolution while in scale mode which of course is problematic. I think ideally he should do it in full screen, but that may be difficult given only part of the desktop is visible. Maybe if he does it in Windowed mode with scrollbars it might stick when he goes full screen.

I'm using a laptop as my machine for the host. My Current max resolution level is 1152x864. i wish to get to a level of 1600x1200. Is it possible to get that resolution in my host machine? If Yes, may i know the method?

Not my area of expertise I'm afraid. Others may like to comment, but if I attempt to change my laptop resolution I get all sorts of warnings not to.

Sir,My actual problem is, i do not get a full screen view of my virtual machine when i get to a higher resolution than my host os as in this image..

I would like to get the full-screen mode with the whole of the screen in it with the higher resolution.
I understood that the host os should have the same (or more) resolution than the vm's. that's good So is there a way to get a higher res on my lap?

Not sure whether this will work on your setup. Go into full screen. Right click on the desktop. Is there a screen resolution entry? If so select it and see if you can select the desired resolution.

So we have LCD screens: the resolution that is native to the screen is usually the highest and in top of the list (marked as recommended).

If that's 1152x864 and all the rest are smaller then i'm afraid you cannot go any higher than that.

If Yes, may i know the method?

There are probably some hacks but definetly they are not recommended to use (I wouldn' t risk forcing the LCD beyond max res)
It will be bad for your (host) screen to force a higher resolution than native => so VBox Scale Mode is the safe way for 1600x1200 or higher.

The VM will have to use 1152x864 to use fullscreen on whole screen.

So Lets leave the topic..
these are the points.. :
1. It is impossible to get higher resolution than host in Virtual Machine.
2. LCD displays cannot go beyond the normal highest resolution..
