It looks if Hollywood gets their way things like OPEN SOURCE soiftware will be the next casualty.

The latest target is the very popular VLC player -- I should download your copy ASAP if this nonsense continues.

It's a false complaint. VLC has nothing to do with the content people choose to watch with it, legit or otherwise. As of now, VLC is the only way people can watch DVDs in Windows 8 without Medea Center.

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm!, bad statement or you forget program like Winamp, PowerDVD, etc., I know you were just attempting to put forward a little stick in the MS Blue Ballon. . .

No, they are NOT. Pir8cy actually brings them more sales.

The first three Lord of the Rings films were released online one month before they hit the theatres. The quality was way too good for it to have been just a pirate, it had to come from New Line. Even The Hobbit was released in that fashion.

If you can get in, you see that almost every new movie which is released is CAM or TS. Except for Lord of the Rings stuff, it's a DVD, no New Line stamps, nothing - Perfect quality. So it HAS to be coming from New Line themselves.

But if you look at the success rate of those films, each of them ran for the good part of a year in the theatre, so they didn't suffer any losses at all.

And then when the DVD/Blu ray comes out, it's all high sales. I went out and bought all the the extended editions of LOTR on DVD when they were relased.

I don't know what defines a "Pir8", I suppose I am a closet pir8. Mostly when I find a Program I like, I buy it. I am more apt to buy a program than a moovie, but I still buy Moovies too.

I wonder why nobody is complaining about MPC-HC, which is basically the Original Windows 98 Media Player 2? Has Microsoft released their interest in it, is that why they can modify it and offer it?

It is not the same player. Just looks like Media Player 6.4 in Windows 2000. It was started when Microsoft brought out XP and a lot of people did not like the new media player that came built in.

Yah, but do you remember the first versions of it? It was identical to Media Player 6.4. I think Gabest was the name on it.
