Solved Video Card Unable to be Detected

SFC File Checker found corrupt files, but was unable to fix them. I've finished up the re installation of Windows, however, there is really no difference between what was and what is. The video card is still undetected.

EDIT: Was able to download the latest drivers after disabling the updated HDMI Audio drivers. However, the card is still acting the same.

Was this grahics card bought brand new, i asked this before ? Possible to it could be faulty or damaged. Strange problem that you have to disable the HDMI Audio device to download new driver, should have nothing to do with downloading something or anything.

HDMI Audio Device is listed because for one, HDMI also carries audio and this must be way you are hooked to your monitor, but must be using the onboard graphics cards HDMI port on PC at time, not one on the ASUS Radeon card.

As said before, looking at Gigabytes site i find no drivers for this board, except USB 3.0 which is odd. Did you receive a disk with this system with system drivers for this board when purchased ? Another symptom of this issue can be outdated drivers for systems board, e.g....( controllers, chipset) Last BIOS for this board was 2012. Could also try contacting Gigabyte, will not charge you. pretty good at helping, as i had called them twice as mine is also a Gigabyte board.

Another is to test the Hard Drive, even though did a fresh install of Windows 8.1, at Command Prompt (Admin) copy and paste
chkdsk /f

Let this run, will take sometime, then can get a text document on desktop and post here from chkdsk results by doing this :

1. Press the Windows + R keys to open the Run dialog, type powershell.exe, and press Enter.

2. In PowerShell, copy and paste the command below, and press Enter.

get-winevent -FilterHashTable @{logname="Application"; id="1001"}| ?{$_.providername –match "wininit"} | fl timecreated, message | out-file Desktop\CHKDSKResults.txt

3. You will now have a CHKDSKResults.txt file created on your desktop that is the log file of your chkdsk scan results from Event Viewer.

Check RAM could be another issue, this takes time windows 8.1to do,find the Memory Diagnostics tool, in control panel under Administration Tools.

Incorrectly configured, old, or corrupted AMD HD Audio Driver device drivers. (very common) Shown in link i gave you earlier.
Your board has a AMD integrated graphics, then feeling possible driver conflict or hardware conflicts here.
Hardware conflict after installing new Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. hardware, or hardware related to atihdwb6.sys.

Trying to think of way around this if this new card is truly not faulty in anyway. When card is installed can go to Device Manager and uninstall the integrated graphics drivers. Problem i do not like about this is process of getting these drivers back if needed for integrated card, if this is the conflict.
Usually done in Device Manager by going to the top menu, select View and Show Hidden Devices. Then go to Display Adapters open it and shaded one would be other integrated card, this would be only when other ASUS Radeon cards driver is properly installed would not be shaded. Whichever is default card at the time.

The video cart is somewhat new. It was ordered a few months back and I just recently tried to install it.

I did receive two disks that came with the motherboard and the graphics card, but I have no possible way to use them as I do not have a CD drive.

I'll try testing the hard drive test in a few moments and update you after I get the log.

EDIT: Tried to do the hard drive test and windows crashed before it could even start. The CHKDSKResults file is empty.

What kind of crash (blue screen with sad face), any error message shown ? Check Event Viewer again under Custom Views then Administrator events. Some here may know how to read your memory dump file and know how to show it here, not familiar with that part.

After doing a reinstall of windows and still having crashes this could be hardware related. Tell me this never happened until you tried this ASUS Card ? May be hard drive too or outdated or malfunctioning device drivers as mentioned before.

What are 2 disc came with the board ? Any yellow exclamation points in device manager under any devices. Reinstall windows need to put back device drivers from this disc. I see this is a custom build, may need someone with a CD drive to make a USB flash drive for you from this disc, that way so you can reinstall device drivers as Gigabyte site shows me nothing for some odd reason

The disc that came with the motherboard is named, "AMD 9/8/7 Series Utilites," and the the disc that came with video card is named, "Driver and CPU Tweak."

There are no yellow exclamation points under device manager. I could try to find someone to make me a USB Flash Drive with the disks on them, but that would take some time.

The crash from the hard drive test was a blue screen. Instead of me just giving the information of the error, i'll just post an image of the last error and previous errors / warning in Event Viewer.

As i said before i noticed this PC have listed as custom built. The AMD disc you listed might only be utilities for motherboard. Since CPU is AMD, but i would first let someone else that has a CD drive take a look at the contents of CD to see what else is on it, then they can make a USB Flash drive from it.

How come you never put in a CD drive ? Very useful to have one, would advise getting one. Case have a spot for one ?
Errors shown, one highlighted was for steam client. one other was critical, Kernel - Power one, this was the one when the PC crashed.

Whatever is on this disc, hopefully be chipset, controller drivers and other important device drivers. Try checking Windows update, make sure set to check for other drivers (recommended updates).
