Users tell Microsoft, keep your Windows 8 Metro apps, we don't want them


Microsoft's new-style "Metro" Windows 8 apps were supposed to draw people to the operating system in droves, but the exact opposite is happening. Just-published research shows that 60% of users don't bother to launch even a single Metro app a day.

This is one more piece of evidence that Microsoft made a serious mistake in designing Windows 8 primarily for touch-based devices, and then bolting that onto a separate desktop-based operating system. At this point, people simply don't care about touch, even when they buy devices like touch-enabled laptops and tablets that are designed for touch.

I wouldn't call them "haters" but rather "screwed-up Microsoft loyal customers" or "scammed" for short. :p

we did care. We did purchase Win 8 in good faith. Only it was a big disappointment.

I'm running a paid for version of Windows 8 and I like it.

But Metro apps...nope. Don't use them, don't want them, don't care for anything that wants to run full screen and cannot be resized.

The good news will be when we hear that Microsoft Themselves puts the Orb and the Transparency back in to the Desktop, and gives us the choice from the Welcome screen to use either RT or Desktop with all of the desktop usefulness and built in modifications that don't require paying stardock 5 bucks

    Recently lost my Windows 8 on my main PC, had to go back to Windows 7.
I don't mind paying Stardock $5. Their corporate offices are literally 1 mile away from my office. I've bought 2 licenses for Start8 and 1 license for Decor8.

I think maybe M$ made a deal LONGGG before Windows 8 was released to shovel commerce towards Stardock. Start8 is satisfactory, that's about all. I used to use Fences until I discovered it swallowed up huge blocks of memory whole.
