Solved Sytem Restore Point

Yeah, they are still a bit behind the times with the free version. I think for now they upgraded only the pro version. Sorry - I was not really aware of that because I run Windows 8 in a vitual partition the old fashioned way. And there I can image with no problems.

I have made backups on my UEFI/GPT SSD with Macrium, no problems.
The last couple of versions do state they support GPT.

LOL it seems that this thread is getting a little side tracked so I'm going to mark solved and if anyone wants to continue on the side track they can start a new thread.

Thanks again for all the replies to help me solve my problem, it isn't solved but at least I have some avenues to research until I get my server up and running.

Sounds like you're not convinced an image backup is going to work for you, many members here and many other people and business use image backups, I've been using them for years and never lost anything, your choice of coarse.

This thread will help others that may be having System Restore problems, if System Restore is not working correctly an image backup can save all your data and your OS.

Let us know if you have any questions.

Thanks for the information Dave. I was starting to get worried about free Macrium. It is probably also required to burn a new WinPE CD. I better update the WinPE download on my Skydrive.

Its called researching to learn, and I do image actually but I've never used Macruim. My Main program of choice is Arcronis True Image. But the copy that I bought for XP doesn't work on Windows 8. So my reason to buy a server to use as a backup to all the computer on my network. With offsite backup to the cloud.

Update on my original problem: I have my Documents folder on another HD With My Pictures and My Music seperated from that. I'm just guessing after some experimentation but that is what was breaking System Restore, That HD wasn't part of the System Restore and when I added it for that drive it started working. Never mind that I've had that setup since XP and it worked without a hitch. But I guess a new OS new problems.

Thank again everyone.
