Resizing partition for Win 8 stuck at pre-BIOS

I really have no knowledge with things like that. You can try, but I don't know the dangers of doing so, if any.

Hi Nunchez,

looks like bios isn't recognising it as a hard drive.

I suppose you tried uplugging and replugging the leads?

Earlier suggestions to try external boot media from cd/dvd are the next thing to try.

You can d/l this that I made. The file is called REP.7z

https://skydrive.live.com/#cid=B0A22789320E3247&id=B0A22789320E3247!345

Rt click it >properties>unblock.Apply>OK

Then extract the .7z ( you will need 7-zip for that)

Inside is an .iso

Burn it to cd/dvd as an image - do not burn it as data.

Boot it up on your sick machine.

You will be able to take screenshots and post on this forum from that.

So I tried using SIW2 method and also tried booting the WinRE but neither of them worked. So I tried disconnecting the hard drive and then I was able to boot into BIOS and I changed the SATA config from AHCI to IDE and it restarted and I reconnected my hard drive and was able to boot into Windows. Plus all my files are still there so should I continue using it like this or try to get AHCI to work?

EDIT: But I'm going to try both again and see if I'm able to boot in AHCI.

I was able to boot into SIW2's CD only after changing it to IDE so what should be my next step?

I see you made progress. I don't see SWI2 or eXcite as logged into the forum. I'm not technically advanced enough to advise what you should do.

You are still using your phone? Do you have the forum app on it?

I will research and find out some things for you. Hopefully someone else might check on this. Please answer my questions here and I'll keep an eye on this thread. I'll be back.

What's happening when you boot up on SWI2's disk?

When I boot it up when the hard drive is connected in AHCI nothing happens. But when I try to boot it in IDE it boots up and honestly I don't know what to do next after booting in SIW2's disk.

You mean when I boot up into SWI2's disk? It does boot into Windows but the resolution is low.
If you're asking about if it boots into Windows 7 when the hard drive is connected in IDE then it does perfectly! No problems at all actually.

He must of:

a) Got it to load needed files so as to be able to boot into 7.
b) It's able to read needed files off the DVD like a page file on a HD or HDD.

I think it's a), but not sure. We'll have to wait for him. At least you've made much progress. Are you able to open Windows Explorer and see files?

But I can't boot into his disk with my hard drive plugged in though so I can't see my files. I took another pic and again sorry for the quality I can't take screenshots unfortunately. This is what happens when his disk loads up fully so if I open up explorer it shows me whatever is in the disk I think.

Yup it boots into my Windows 7 desktop when I connect it in IDE with all my files and the way I left it before all this happened.
