Hello all,
My problem is a crashing problem, but is not a BSOD. I couldn't find anywhere else to post this, and this sub-section seemed like the most relevant. If there is somewhere else I should be posting this, please let me know.
So I have been having this problem with my computer. I bought this computer and assembled it myself, last year. Ever since I assembled it, it has randomly crashed (to be specific, the screen turns a random colour, I hear sound for a few seconds, then sound loops, only way to solve is hard restart). This went on as a consistent but random problem ever since then. I have changed every piece of the computer hardware except the power supply (Corsair 750TX), CPU (Core i7 2600k), and main HDD (Intel 120GB SSD). I have run many hardware tests, reinstalled (windows 7 at the time) several times, and still the issue persisted. I found that not using an internet browser program prolonged the time until the computer crashed, but it only delayed it. I paid several shop owners in my area to look at the machine, and all agreed that it seemed to be in perfect working order.
I converted to Windows 8 a week ago, and have everything set up nicely, play some games, use Firefox, etc. and no problem. I was just played a game of League of Legends, and my computer did the SAME crashing thing as it did before. I found out about event viewer, so I looked around there, and being a fresh install, there wasnt much to look through, so I easily found a critical error (which was just the hard restart I had to do), and an application error (something to do with Firefox, called plugin-container.exe). I found this forums and thought I would post asking for help. If there is any additional information I can provide I will do so happily, just let me know.
There is one more relevant fact that might be useful: when my computer boots up, it goes in this sequence: POST, BIOS, *restart itself*, POST, BIOS, Windows. I am not sure why it does that, or if it is relevant, but I thought I would mention it anyhow.
Thank you for your help,
-Bryan.
