Good deal Raymond, I figured that was the problem but when I only have a bunch of IP's addresses to go by it slows down the solving process a bit.
When the case was cracked my quote was on the mark.
Everything works fine now, Win8 laptop was in a different network (I don't know why). I did a ipconfig /release + renew. Now both my laptops are in the same network and both my printer and NAS are recognized immediately. Thanks for the help!
Different network, that is strange and can't really happen unless two routers were being used with DHCP not disabled on one of them or there was a static IP set up in the IPv4 properties, I guess I should have checked the ipconfig/all on both machines.
