Hello,
I am trying to share a few folders off of my external USB (NTFS formatted) hard drive. I am able to successfully share folders just fine off of my internal (laptop) hard drive. The laptop has installed Windows 8.1.
The steps I am taking are identical for folders on both drives, and according to the host computer all folders are shared successfully. When I attempt to view these shared folders (from my XP, Vista, Android) devices, all of the folders show up properly when I select the host computers name in the workgroup. The problem arises when I click the folders to open/view their contents...
The folders located on the host computers internal drive load and display just fine over the network and all read/write functions work. When I try to click on a folder that is located on the external drive however, I get
"........ is not accessible. You might not have permission to use this network resource. Contact the administrator of this server to find out if you have access permissions. Not enough server storage is available to process this command."
I have scoured forums online for hours looking for solutions and trying a million and a half different possible fixes to no avail.
Am I missing something simple here? I'm at a loss. This external drive was previously connected to my (now deceased) XP desktop pc, and I used to share these same folders on this same drive just fine.
Please help!
Thank you!
-Brian
