There's a way to change preferences from the settings on the start screen. Win8.1 lets you use your desktop image.

Ooh nice start screen arrangement, however 1 question. Do you use the apps itself?

I use almost all apps shown on the screenshot. I watch my TV shows from the TV apps and from Hulu+(US DNS Power ), I like reading stuff on the Cnet, TC and News app, although I don't use the news app as often as the other 2. I have all of my iTunes music in the Music app, but don't use it as often as I use iTunes. I use TuneIn from time to time to listen to my local radio stations. MetroTube is the best YouTube app for Windows 8 and it looks awesome, so I use it often rather than going to youtube I use VEVO, cause in Germany the YouTube VEVO channels are blocked, but VEVO itself is available in Germany since a couple of months. I use Amazon/Ebay for the notification features, like if I'm outbidded and the ebay app sends a neat notification and I know that I have to place a higher bid. The Office apps - school stuff. I also use the social apps a lot.

Overall, I'm the ultimate app user I love the idea of using some of my favourite mobile apps on my PC, and I love Microsoft for making it happpen!

It's good to hear some positive feedback with the Store apps. I think they get better all the time.

In another evolution of usefulness, this one works. (and this is server 2012)
Although I have no need for live tiles, my preference is for the fisher price toys.
They do a great job of hyper quick access to often used programs.
... and I love "pin to start" ...

I'm in my nightly high contrast theme mode, SO easier on the eyes at night; and it also makes the UI pretty neat looking especially on the Desktop.

I want that icon set for Office and CC. Where did you get it from and how do you apply it?

Welcome to Eight Forums figgycity50. I got my office icon set from RKay-x. His icons are only 128x128 so I made a 256x256 icons and used Oblytile to put them in metro. :thumb:
