PC starts to modern interface then goes to desktop?

ok i will try that and see if that fixes it.

ok so i got the latest version of the bing desktop and well no go it still drops to the desktop. i'm at a lose here i guess i just deal with it. Here are the apps listed in my startup area. Nvidia, Google drive, Bing desktop a dell system detect from dell i exit it as soon as it loads. Steam ,Alienware tact x keyboard. and alienware audio.

Sorry to hear of your struggle and that nothing seems to fix it. Looks like a system restore is the only thing that will, but I know that's a PITA.

I know it shouldn't be doing it and we like things are way, but in the light of it it's not the biggest problem. More like an inconvenience. A push of the WinKey get you back to start screen. That's the way I looked at it when I had the problem anyway.

I suggest you run it for a while. Perhaps it'll work itself out. Software is strange sometimes that way.
