"P" key typing while not pressed
"P" key autotyping, complicating login service fix process
My login service is locked up, keeping me from getting into either of my profiles, and I'm in the process of using
User Profile Service failed the logon. User profile cannot be loaded. - Windows 7 Help Forums to hopefully fix my laptop's issue.
But, because Windows 8 must have a safe mode set up, I have to do other things first. Now that I've got to using the command prompt to add the safe mode, the P key is constantly being pressed, making it nearly impossible to type anything accurately. It would take countless hours to type things right or cause more problems if I go on with it.

You might double check the physical "P" key on the keyboard to see if it may be stuck down. Tapping it hard may help if so.
If this is for a desktop PC, then try using a different keyboard if able. Borrow a friends if needed.

I checked the key and there is no apparent problem with it. It seems there is something else going on, causing P to be typed at a pace much slower than the pace that holding down the key would cause.

I'm using a laptop. Using the keyboard from the desktop computer did not work.
Edit: I mean: the laptop is what is having the problem and connecting an additional keyboard did not fix the problem.

You might see if doing a
system restore using a restore point (if available) dated before this happened may be able to help. It's not going to help with the keyboard if there's something physically wrong with it though.

Restored to 9/10/2013.
I could log in after fighting the constant P's but the typing problem persists. I find it a strange coincidence that this problem occurs as soon as I try to fix the login service problem. It's also odd that the is a slow pulse instead of the fast typing that happens with a key pressed down. What can be done to fix this?

If the laptop is still under warrantee, then you might consider having it replaced since the keyboard may be defective.

It is under warranty still, fortunately. That's only for about a month longer though. Ummm.... After the battery was taken out for a while (I'm not sure that had anything to do with it), the problem has somehow resolved itself. :huh: I had even called HP earlier and they're going to send a box so I can ship it to them to fix it. Now I'm not sure if I should send it.
