OnScreen Keyboard opacity and shortcut

Ah ok, I thought you was meaning the phisical keyboard.

Would be a bit useless assign a shortcut for launch the OSK when I'm using the OSK for press the shortcut... no?

I've an Acer Iconia W501 (the version with Windows 7 as default OS, upgradable to Windows 8)

Hello David,

The main problem is that the shortcut is to open the Touch Keyboard. It's a catch 22 since you can't press the required keys without the Touch Keyboard or OnScreen Keyboard already opened.

Would be difficult to use a wireless keyboard while I'm walking. With one I hold the keyboard, with the other hand I hold the tablet, with another hand I tap on monitor and with another hand I write on wireless keyboard... oh wait, I've not 4 hands

Why the built-in shortcut of microsoft doesn't work?

The shortcut doesn't work because you are unable to press the required key combinations as per the posts above.

You're forgetting about having to also press the CTRL + ALT keys as outlined in the tutorial. That's why it's not going to work since you don't have a keyboard to be able to press them. You'll need to double click/tap on the shortcut to open it instead.

No because if you take a look in Windows Settings > General you can find an option for assign to VolumeUp + Windows an action, and I've assigned the OSK.

It doesn't require the Ctrl + Alt thing

In addition, since this is on a tablet, the Touch Keyboard should open automatically when you tap in a field where you have to enter text.

I use a software that has the text fields not "standard".. they are not recognized as text fields and so the tabtip is not auto-opened.

I thought your were wanting to open the Touch Keyboard. That is for the On Screen Keyboard instead.

So far, it looks like using a shortcut may be the only viable option to open either one you wanted.

I'd like to open "one keyboard", not matter which one, but with the built-in shortcut both are not opened!
