to make a recovery drive

I have a Lenovo laptop and I didn't like the "ThinkVantage" one key recovery. I did a clean install of 8.1, installed all the programs I liked (Office, TN5250, VLC etc) and then used Macrium Reflect FREE Edition - Information and download to make an image.

I then also used this tutorial http://www.eightforums.com/tutorials/3610-refresh-windows-8-create-use-custom-recovery-image.html to make a custom refresh point - if you have installed all your programs and something goes wrong later you can use this to refresh your system without losing any data.

That should cover it. I'm not saying you should but if you have an image and a custom refresh point you should be OK. It works for me certainly.

The only Lenovo things you need to install is the power management driver and perhaps (if you have HDD nor SDD) the active protection system. All the rest is junk that you can ignore and use windows functions instead.

the said that the lenovo partition isn't the recovery partition and i can't make a recovery partition!

By default, all systems preloaded with a copy of Windows already have a recovery partition (this is usually the last partition - see above image). You will not be able to create your own recovery partition using OneKey Recovery but you can create a recovery drive to restore Windows in an event of a crash.

The Recovery Partition is NOT 100% free.

A hidden Recovery Partition with a size of 25gb & 20gb of Recovery files, will show in DM as 100% free.
A unhidden Recovery Partition with a size of 25gb & 20gb of Recovery files, will show in DM as 5gb free.
