Solved Office 2003 with Win 8?

Hi all

My experience is that you cannot install office 2003 on Windows 8.0, but you can on Windows 8.1

Why would you even try? It reached end-of-life ergo support on 8 April, 2014 at the same time as XP !!

It's inherently dangerous to run an unpatched product - which it will be officially on 8 May

Hi Peter

Good point.
I tried Apache Open Office. Not any great experience. Too slow opening MS Office files.
I'll try Kingston Office now. I only need spreadsheet and word processor.

If you need access, office 365 is a great way to go. If you need more than 1 install, office 365 is a no brainer. If you have anyone you can share your subscription with, even better. Get 5 people in on it, then it's only $20 a year.

I don't tend to use any of them much apart from Word but I'd lose access to some Access files if I didn't have this. I have had over the years, Office 97 Pro, 2000 Pro, 2007(?), and most recently 2010, some coming with PCs or bought in the latter case. Only have 97 and 2000 at the moment. It's surprsing what one can install on modern PCs. I found I could only install Photoshop 5 in XP Mode on Win 7 Pro though.

Some state Office subscription is a good value. The trouble with full editions is that one needs to upgrade every 4 or 5 years.

Hi HipsieGypsie
We have got quite a debate going here.
BTW what do you mean with state Office subscription?

Yours
FlemmingK

In English it will understandably read "Some (meaning some people) state that Office subscription is a good value". “People” and "That" is what is called in English as understood words, therefore silent. In this particular case I used two of them closely together. I can see where it would be rather confusing to someone whose native language is not English such as yourself. I will try to be more careful in my sentence structure. :)
