Networking Problems (Unidentified Network)

Just tried Ubuntu and it just said no network connections... I don't know if it happened to be a problem with drivers though.

I'd have to point my finger outside the box at this point>router or modem problem. Try different hardware. :geek:

I will try an ethernet adapter in a sec.
I have already replaced the modem AND the router with my old computer.

Alright, I have found out something new.
The audio begins crackling when the Internet goes out.
I get this crackling/popping, and it ONLY happens when there is crackling at certain frequencies.
Also, I am getting 25% CPU consumption from something that's from the security suite (I think). Should I investigate it?

Tried an ethernet card, three hours of goodness before the Internet went dead.
Bought a wireless card, will be coming soon.
Saw someone mention graphics card drivers that screwed up their internet.
Tried a laptop, and it had identification issues as well.
Might have been isolated to that laptop though.

You must realize this isn't a coincidence.

Suggest you check your modem router connections and the router set up is important, just because they were replaced does not mean they are set up correctly.

I just did plug and play I the routers. I don't see any options directly pertaining to wired connections, so could you clarify?
And the modem has no setup, it's done by Comcast.
I've already called them twice and every time they've said that the modem is working perfectly fine.

In either event the problem appeared on the laptop same as your machine, something is wrong here just not sure what it is.

You need to try your machine in another location if possible.

Oh, and does using a CAT5 line with a gigabit connection cause intermittency?
My dad was cheap and bought a HUUUUGE bulk roll of cable way back and has been using it ever since.
Should I buy a CAT6 line and try it?

Installed wireless adapter in my computer, works perfectly now. No idea why.
Still need to fix my wired internet.
At least I can do whatever now.
