Solved Need To Free Up Space on SSD To Install Windows 8

Will resetting bios help at all maybe? I just spent 3 hours on the phone with Microsoft to no avail. This is very disappointing.....

On my x79 the install media can change to uefi in the bios, if it does this I need to go back in bios and change boot order to get rid of the uefi option. Then install can happen. I also would only have the one drive plugged into the mobo for install, less chance of the boot file going somewhere it's not supposed to.

Your diskpart commands are fine, when you setup the partition you do not need to specify align=1024, it will default to this size.

I would just use the clean command and not the clean all on an ssd, clean all writes all zeros, hardly the best way to clean as ssd.

Ok lets run through.
Ntfs format not fat32. Set bios to its default settings. If you have a linux distro boot it up and check if it has a partition that needs to be removed. Format to ntfs. Run check disk to find errors, you will be asked to unmount drive firstly. Delete partitions, create a single drive. see if that works. Also check if your bios needs to be updated go to manufacures e.g asus ect and find a board that is the same as yours it could be r2 and if you can flash your bios at your own risk. Also if you have the windows 8 pro upgrade you need to have windows 7, vista. If you have the oem version 7 or vist not required. When installing keep your internet on to get a download from microsoft before installing.

Ok, I have 4 HDD's in my PC so I unplugged 3 of them and left only the SSD intact. I attempted to install W7 and it install flawlessly. I then attempted to install W8 and it too installed flawlessly. The problem I now have is that W8 won't recognize any of my HHD's. It sees my External HD and my Optic Drive, and of coarse the SSD. I looked in my BIOS and it does in fact recognize the drives. I also install a program called Data Lifeguard Diagnostic for Windows because my 3 HDD's are Western Digital and the software recognizes the 3 HDD's too. So I'm stuck at the moment. I really want to start installing my games and such but I can't because W8 doesn't see my HHD's. Please advise?

I figured it out! All set now!

I unplugged the 3 SATA HDD and left only the SSD intact. I installed W7 and it work flawlessly, then I installed W8 and that installed perfectly as well.
I also went into Disk Management and got W8 to recognize the HDD from there.

By that, do you mean you assigned drive letters to the drives from Disk Management?
