Microphone inputs do not work on back or front panel

There is something missing from your report.

First thing is to try a different microphone. that is the only thing left and the only common point.

Okay I'm back. I used a G930 Logitech headset to test and it works...halelujah. So usb works but mic jacks do not. Any advice?

That points to the sound hardware as the problem. If USB headset works OK, its taking the digital audio (same as what the sound card receives) and converting it in the headset or vice versa taking the analog mic and converting it to digital for the PC.

Urgh.....well, looks like I'm going to be taking this one back and getting a replacement, was hoping this wouldn't be the case...

Also, I wanted to ask if you would know why the small USB 'soundcard' did not work with my headset. I plugged it in, it comes up as a USB device, but I cannot use the mic, however, the audio output works. I would assume since the USB headset I used earlier works, that this would work as well due to the ports not being used...
